Nigeria, Circa 200 to 600 AD

Handsome and dignified grog rich stylized schematic clay sculptural bust.  The face with heavily laden lidded eyes, incised brows, wide pierced nose and slightly open mouth with stippled beard. Age wear, losses, stable cracks, exposed core and archaeological surface.

Size: approx 13 inches H. + custom base

Provenance: Ex Collection Joseph Knopfelmacher, (Craft Caravan), New York, Acq 1970’s to 1980’s.

Very choice and expressive with archaeological patina.
