Circa 9th Century AD

Deep cut clear stone with amber coloration to chamber. Rock Crystal occurring in its clear hard form was believed to hold magical properties in antiquity. It was coveted as early as the Bronze age and a vessel like this would only have been used as a luxury item for the elite class of society.

Size: 1-3/4 inches (4.4 cm) H. Intact and with earth deposits. Possibly origin can also be argued for Old Kingdom Egypt.

Provenance: Ex Brooklyn NY Coll, acquired from Faganarms Inc. Clinton MI. Choice and rare item.
