North Coast Peru, Circa 1000 to 1250 A.D.

Carved wood plank mask having an applied hair wig with tied textile head bands. Relief carved nose and recessed diamond shape eyes, painted dark brown and white. Face painted red-pink. Small drilled attachment holes along the edges. Intact, excellent condition.
Size: 11-3/4”H. x 7-3/4”W. A nice example.
Provenance: Private Brooklyn collection. Ex. Sidney and Gae Berman collection, NYC., 1970’s.
